An overpayment notice is a calculation, and calculations can be wrong.
Our member had stepped back from a senior role to a frontline nursing role, and told payroll at the time. Months later an email arrived saying they had been overpaid more than $11,000 and would have to pay it back.
They brought it to NPAA rather than agreeing to the figure.
Their case manager went through the employer's calculation and found errors in it. The amount owing was reworked and settled at about $2,400, repaid through a payment plan our member could manage.
That is more than $9,000 our member did not have to pay. From first contact to settled figure took about a month.
If you are told you have been overpaid, ask for the calculation before you agree to anything.
How is the NPAA so effective in defending members during workplace issues and disputes? Our experienced and professional case managers use our unique RED™ case resolution system.
Why is the NPAA different? We believe that real change in healthcare STARTS with empowering frontline nurses, not bureaucrats.
