In case you haven’t noticed, the Queensland Nurses and Midwives Union (QNMU), who convinced QH nurses to vote for EB11, are avoiding awkward questions this week about when the new nursing enterprise agreement EB11 will be signed off. We are told that the QNMU did not turn up for member meetings in Metro South this week.
Why? Could it be that the Health Minister is stalling the EB11 sign off so that nurses are paid lower rates for shift work and can be recalled on short notice over Christmas if hospitals are short-staffed. Worse, we hear the QNMU is not pushing the government to get EB11 certified sooner.
All that push to get nurses to vote for EB11 and the Government won’t prioritise the agreement just so they can save a few dollars that should go to nurses.
Don’t expect an EB11 present from Santa this Christmas.
Minister D’Ath and the QNMU should step up for nurses or step aside.
We call on the Health Minister and the QNMU to join us and to call for EB11 to be certified now, before Christmas 2022.
