Your Right to Vote in EB12 - September Update

The Queensland Government and QNMU have recently reached a pay agreement. While the QNMU members have accepted this deal, it's important to understand that NPAQ was not permitted to be part of these negotiations due to legislation passed by Labor in 2022.

Our comprehensive 25-page Log of Claims requested greater recognition to properly value our nurses and midwives.

Although any wage increase is welcome, our preliminary assessment indicates this agreement falls short of addressing the systemic issues our members consistently raise, including retention, equity, workload, safety, and transparency concerns.

Following a vote by QNMU members, EB12 will now proceed to a formal ballot for ALL Queensland Health employees - not just QNMU union members. Every Queensland Health nurse and midwife, regardless of union affiliation, is eligible to participate in this formal vote.

Under the Industrial Relations Act 2016, the new enterprise agreement requires approval by a majority of relevant employees, not just members of any particular union. A relevant employee is defined as anyone covered by the agreement, including all nurses and midwives employed under the Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award - State 2015.

As an NPAQ member:

✅ You will receive the opportunity to formally vote

✅ You will receive all wage increases, back pay, and improved working conditions

✅ This is a yes or no vote that affects all Queensland Health nurses and midwives

✅ Your vote matters in determining whether this agreement adequately addresses our profession's needs
