NPAQ EB 12 Bargaining Update
An update from NPAQ about Queensland Health Bargaining Nurses & Midwives for EB 12.
Enterprise bargaining belongs to...
Queensland's healthcare system is on the brink of collapse, yet bureaucrats continue to multiply while nurses' and midwives' real wages fall. Since 2009, enterprise bargaining has delivered negative real wage growth, with increases barely covering rising union fees.
✗ No More empty promises
✗ No More bureaucratic waste
✗ No More negative real wage growth
✗ No More unsafe workloads
✓ Immediate 25% pay increase
✓ Local control of hospitals
✓ Freedom to choose representation
✓ Resources directed to frontline care
✓ Safe working conditions
✓ Real wage protection
In 2022 the ALP adopted changes to the Industrial Relations Act 2016, by removing ‘industrial association’. This calculated move was designed to enforce a union stronghold and deny Public Health workers their fundamental right to choose their representation in enterprise bargaining negotiations. NPAQ has a multi-faceted strategy to fight for proper representation and better pay and conditions in EB12:
a) First, some NPAQ members have formed QNCH, which aims to become a registered organisation to represent nurses in EB12 negotiations.
b) We're actively pursuing our Go Local campaign.
c) As a powerful voting block now representing close to 20% of Queensland nurses, we have substantial influence, given that only 50%+1 is needed in EB votes.
d) We can support QHealth nurses to bargain for themselves in negotiations, where you can appoint whomever you want as your representative.

The Nurses' Professional Association of Queensland (NPAQ) is a professional association. The Nurses' Professional Association of Australia (NPAA) is an industrial association whose principal purpose is to protect and promote the interests of members in matters concerning their employment or professional engagement. No membership fees are used to support any political party (including the ALP), so we are able to source and/or provide representation for all members, on all issues, better than our competitors. Savings of over $273 are just the beginning.
